does anyone know how to get rid of this beside manually pulling them out? what fish can i get to eat it? i already have a yellow tang, but he doesn't seem to even look at it.
Unfortunately, caulerpa produces a toxin that makes it unpalatable (even poisonous) to most fish. That's one reason it's listed as an invasive species- very few natural grazers, especially when it finds its way to a non-native habitat.
I think your best bet for a fish that might eat it is a two barred rabbit (signus doliatus). In my experience, they are by far the best algae grazer. I have had them eat valonia, caulerpas and even halimeda.
I have a Vlamingi tang. It eats anything that hits the water. I think I saw him breaking off a piece of live rock to eat the other day. Just kidding about t the rock.
Don't get a Vlamingi unless you have a very large tank...
