i need to buy a new skimmer that will fit in my sump and these are the few that i was thinking about. Which skimmer would you guys recommending me getting for my 100 gallon mix tank?
i have already checked and those are theone that will fit in my sump. just can't decide on which one. is there a noticable difference between the ASM and ER?
Before about a year ago an ASM was significantly lower price and the quality difference was very small. Since ER has lowered prices slightly and ASM has increased prices. ER has also made some upgrades (like the recircs) that make them superior and worth the small price difference now in my opinion. If you look back in the past I ws a huge ASM proponent but I think success went to their head!
i have an octopus RPS-2000 right now, but it does not fit in my skimmer. there for i am selling it today to get a one that is smaller. i looked around and didn't find many reviews on the Octopus skimmers. do you have a link that i can look at?
I use a ASM g1x on my 140 gallon right now. I am going to be selling it soon when I break it down for my 295 gallon. I went with Euro Reef on my new one since it will handle a larger body of water with a large bioload. I think you will find that all have different opinions on each skimmer. ASM worked for me on my 140 gallon and I think it is a good quality skimmer.
I use a ER rs135 on my 90g. Very well built skimmer, truly a set it and forget it type of skimmer.
make sure the water level in the sump is like 8 inches or so. I had it in 10 and raised it up to 8 and there was a noticable difference.
