Help please... not sure what my montis are doing

I went to cover my plate coral and just did and noticed my rainbow monti looked a little different in the dark. And whatever they're doing it's only my purple haze monti, sunset monti and rainbow monti all doing the same thing. It sort of looks like they're all spitting out cotton spider webs (if that makes any sense). I'll try to get a closeup.

Quick test: pH 8.0, Cal 420, Alk 10, salinity 1.026

I normally start dosing alk & calcium about now but haven't dosed anything additional. Feeding today same as usual mysis, plankton for the two fish.

You can see the white patches on the wide shot on the purple haze in the back. None of the other corals are affected

Okay let me reclarify... my blue monti cap is also now doing the same thing, but so far not the red monti cap.

Maybe spawning....you don't have any Barry White songs on do you. said:
LOL No. But certainly a string of events. Shrimp released hundreds of babies in the tank right afterwards. And now that white stuff coming from the blue monticap is sort of starting to get blown off and around the tank. Just kicked the MP20 up a notch. You could be right. Some of that white is coming away from the sunset monti and the coral looks fine. It was so thick and solid white when I first saw it I thought the corals were going RTN on me.

Ya know, I've seen my rainbow monti doing that on a much smaller scale from time to time, but it has always been just fine afterwards. Sorry, it's not much help but I have seen something similar before.

Well the assumed tragedy is over and all the montipora are fine. It most likely was as Ron posted a mass spawning event that the montipora corals performed in synch. There were huge long strings coming off my blue monti cap and I tried to get pictures but they just wouldn't show up. Now I think the whole process was pretty cool, but last night I thought they were expelling their zooaxanthelle and sorta panicked. The setosa also had a few tiny white patches last night and I wasn't sure it was joining with the rest but this morning those are gone so it must have joined the party as well.
