Help me decide.. New Fish

I am going to be adding some fish to my tank in the near future. What do you think about the selection? Have you had any experience with these fish, or combination of these fish? I have a mixed reef soft, LPS and SPS.

Fish I have:
1 Lyretail Anthias (m)
2 Lyretail Anthias (f)
3 False Percs
1 Sohal tang
2 Sailfin Tangs
1 Blue Hippo Tang
1 Scooter Blenny
1 Mandarin Goby
1 Bicolor Blenny
6 Blue/Green Chromis
1 Magnificent Foxface
1 Regal Angel
1 Six Line Wrasse
1 Yellow Tang

Fish I want:
1 Watanabe Angelfish (m)
1 Bluejaw Trigger
1 Naso Tang (f)
5 Firefish
3 Sunburst Anthias
3 Blue Reef Chromis
1 Orange Shoulder Tang
1 Powder Brown Tang
1 Midas Blenny
1 Copperband Butterfly
1 Longnose Hawkfish
1 Marine Betta

I have great experience with these fish and would do it again.

1 Naso Tang (f)
5 Firefish

3 Blue Reef Chromis
1 Orange Shoulder Tang
1 Powder Brown Tang
1 Midas Blenny
1 Copperband Butterfly
1 Longnose Hawkfish

Scott, I hope to get fish that are 4-6". As of now I only have two that are in that size range. I would love to out grow the 250 its acrylic and I hate it. I won't down size so I must over grow it to make sense of the cost to upgrade.

Troy,

I am far from a member of the tang police.. but your choice of species and numbers of tangs is going to be problematic.

2 sailfins will not get along... also with the yellow in there (same shape) will cause some problems (potentially).

If it were me doing it in a 250.. I would pick the Sohol (who will be king of the tank and add last). The Hippo (unless you plan on keeping zoas which they will munch on when they grow up) and either the sail fin (either sail fin or dejardin) or the yellow tang.

Don't forget that angel which is a beautiful fish, will be aggressive too... so youll have two butting heads in the sohol and the angel potentially.

The foxface can be aggressive too, but I think those others will be able to hold their own.

The others seem fine however, especially with that size tank.

The Regal angel he has and the Wantanabe he wants are not considered aggressive. The Regal may cause some damage to his corals but not other fish. I have had several Regals over the years and none were aggressive. The Wantanabe is the least destructive of the angels. You should be ok with your choice of angels.

Troy, do you plan to out do Donnie and me on the 560 eventually? You have a good selection of fish. As you add more fish to your tank, look into getting an ozonizer to help prevent the reduction of oxygen in the tank. That many fish will cause a large drop in pH. I just don't know how Donnie does his tank will all those fish . He probably has more fish than I do in the 560 with his 300 gal tank.

Great info!!

I already have the sail fins. I have a Sailfin 6" and a Dejardin 2.5" in the tank now. They don't mess with each other or with the 3" Yellow tang. I could deal with getting rid of one of the Sailfins.

My Hippo is 3.5" and stays hidden in the rock because of the Sohal, so I may have to get rid of the Hippo. I hope that I don't have to, I was thinking that if I added more fish then the Sohal would have others to chase.

My Regal Angel is the most peaceful fish in the tank. Angel fish are my favorite by far. I did not think that the two angels would fight but I am worried about the Watanabe, Bluejaw, and Sohal. With all these fish having the torpedo shape grey in color with the blue stripes.

Tri, I am not trying to out do anyone. I just love my tank and want as many beautiful fish that I can get. Thanks for pointing out the ozonizer. I will do some reading up on this. I think all the fish that Donnie has is great, they make his tank IMO. There are so many beautiful tanks in this hobby, I like the tanks with lots of fish more than the coral tanks with a few fish. I will have a monster reef one day $100 at a time.

i have 5 green chromis i went to add three blue reef chromis and they attacked them to the point they jumped out of the tank...i have had a bluethroat trigger for month now very beautiful fish and lots of personality

Where did you get the blue reef chromis :?:

Troy, I am worried that the watanbei will be bullied by the Sohal tang. They are very peaceful fish and better if kept in pairs. I wish my tank was big enough to add a pair of them or the bellus, and they don't get very big, may 5 inches tops. They also would get along with the hippo tang and yellow tang.

I would suggest to you to remove the Sunburst Anthias from your list. They most likely will not survive long in the tank you have with those inhabitants. They require a tank with pieceful tankmates. They are a very shy fish and do not do well with fish that are real active like tangs and triggers. They will starve to death because the feeding frenzy will make them seek shelter instead of eating.

You've got plenty of fish for a 250. If you must add more then go small, midas bleeny, chromis, longnose hawk would be OK, I wouldn't add another tang (because you already have plenty and your sohal) and the angel and trigger while great fish are just others that will turn quite big and become poop factories.

Sounds like I won't be adding any Blue Reef Chromis. If I have to get rid of the Sohal to have the Watanbie I will. Once I get rid of the Sohal the tank should slow down alot. I will remember what you said about the Sunburst and look at how the tank acts when feeding before I buy them. I know that it sounds like I have plenty of fish but I don't. 8)

marine betta might go after the chromis if they can fit in the fishes mouth. crosshatch trigger are really nice too..i think that would make a nice show piece fish

$100 dollars at a time? geez troy what happened to $20 dollars at a time hahahahha unless you spread that $100 over 6 months
