Help Identifying problem on Koran Angel

we purchased a small Koran angel fish on Saturday. He ate as soon as he got in the tank and behaves normailly but he has a white "film" on one side- our cleaner shrimp having been going hard at him but it is now on hte other side too. We have had our tank for about 4 months now and are new to this. I've seen ich before and this doesn't look like it's a white cloudy-like film on his body.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the pics in advance- I was only able to take them with my phone.

I cant really tell anything from the pics but it sounds like amyloodinium ie. velvet. Take a look at this article and see if it sounds like what is affecting your koran. If this is correct, you will need to get treatment started quickly as it is a fast moving parasite.

I looked up velvet late last night & I do think that's what he had- unfortunately we lost him this morning  (this is hard to get used to-as we had horrible experiences setting up this tank) Now my question is how contagious is this- we have 2 Banghai Cardinals, 3 Pyjama cards, a Cooper Banded Bf (we picked up on Saturday), 2 mandarins and a Red Cromis Wrasse. IS there anything we need to do now to prevent them from developing it also?

Thanks for your help,

We've gotten so much contradicting info about Qt that we returned the tank we had to set it up & all because we were advised against it. But considering how destreuctive these things can be I am thinking we need to have one. Any suggestions on setting one up (how to's- as we are NEWBIES at this)

Thanks

Rose
