HELP! High School teacher needs live rock

I teach aquatic science at a local high school who is very low on funding. I was able to get a 25 gallon "Marine Invertebrate Touch Tank" through Science Kit but it is a pretty bare bones set up. I have had it up and running for 2 months now with a small horseshoe crab. Yesterday I received the rest of the invertebrates (sea cucumber, sea peach, brittle star, sea urchin and another horseshoe crab) from Science Kit and I had to put them all in the tank the same day. They are supposed to be "community animals" and but the horse crab is bullying all the other animals. I called Science Kit and they said I need to get live rock for my animals so my brittle star can hide and because now I have all these extra animals producing waste.
So very long story short, I need to buy/acquire live rock out of my own pocket. Does anyone know where I can find some inexpensive live rock? I also need to buy a protein skimmer at some point. I am such a novice at salt water aquariums and I need all the help and advice I can get. All the help I can get will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Where are you located, if you update your profile with that info then those close to you may be able to help out.

Cheers,

I don't have alot, and none "live" , but have 15-20 # of fist sized rock that you are welcome to if I can find a way to get it to you.

That turnicate seems like it would be something best left to a larger, nutrient rich tank. I could be wrong about turnicates, but thought they were a little difficult to care for.

In any event...
I have dry rock, fiji, that you are welcome too. I am midilothian, which is really far out of the way, but if you want to meet up at the frag swap tomorrow, I can have it for you there. One rock has some cutting on it, from a failed attempt at a project I was doing at the time. I think I have ~8 lbs or so. PM if are going to be at the swap tomorrow, cause I am scatter brained and may not revisit this thread tomorrow.

I have about 30-35lbs of cured tufa. Great starter rock. I'm getting ready to replace it. Pm me if you still need some on the cheap.

Thanks for everyone's help. I ended up buying some rock at Fish2morow. It's only a couple miles from the school, and they were very helpful in getting me exactly what I need!

Saginaw High School in the Eagle Mountain Saginaw school district. I'm having all kinds of cool little invertebrates coming out of the live rock I bought on Sunday.
