My name is Matthew 38 years old and I live in Waxahachie..
Just paid the Member ship fee and personally if you look at there is much more informaiton in here and well worth the fee by leeps and bounds..
So you will see me more and more.. More then likly in the question section.. lol
Married and have a 7 yr old boy and a 2 year old boy who is making me older my the second.
I posted on craigslist for help and every one pointed me here.. I have been reading lots of stuff.. I do not think it will ever stop.
Been in freshwater aquarium for about 7 years.. Got board and wanted life and color… and a bigger tank.. Wife is not as excited as me ..( I will just say that incase she reads this… lol ) O and I am not this long winded in most cases… But as an introduction figured I would be accurate;
80 Gal Tank 48 wide
Got the sides and back painted black used appliance paint and it worked good.
Going into a corner spot which you will see.
Bought the tank and stand for 200 from someone that has a fish store called “another FISH store” In Garland I think.. She gave me her card… So if your reading this.. this is an update.. lol
Any way I took the stand and sanded it down for like 2 days… It really brought out the wood grains.. very nice wood I could not see.. Then I stained it .. I figure I will put the work into the tank I would enjoy it even more when I am done. Did I mention my wife is not as excited as me?
250 Wet Dry Filter with a dual over flow and a 1” return line talk about a close fit! Maybe to big but with a little persuasion it fits just right..
250 Skimmer in sump
7 Watt Submariner UV Sterilizer
2 model 1140 Penguin Power Heads with the Hydro Flow rotating Deflector
300W Titanium Heater
Eheium Classic Canister Filter rated for a 160 GAL Tank
2- 65W 12,000K Daylight lights
2- 65W Actinic True 03 lights
4- DUAL LED Blue Moon light
Just Ordered 2 heat controlled variable speed fans to help with the heat of the light/
Right now I got water and salt all mixed up and going through my filters.
I put some Cycle in it to get it started. Yep I now I got way over KILL on the filtration but I have done a lot of reading and no one ever said to much is bad… I have read that to little is bad and I did not want that.. (think I am covered)
Skimmer is not turned on although I did test and set the water level and it did bubble up good so I think it is going to work.. suppose I will find out sooner or later.
Plan is to Stabilize the heat from the lights then worry about the chemical balance.
Once I get that under some control I am planning on adding 100lbs of live rock and curing. After that fun and excited process I am going to start adding sand. I figure 80lbs but may add more. But I was thinking about a mixture of different live sands..
Then the clean up crew..
Then I will leave it for a while and watch the Forum for some nice and colorful corals to get for it.. I have seen some things that I want but I am not ready for them yet and just pray they show back up when I am... lol
I tried to add Pics of what I have so far but could not get them to attach... Must be a rpolem betweenthe key Board and chair..
