heads of torch dying

I have lost 2 heads of my euphyllia torch coral :x they got a brown slug/slime on them. Why? All other corals are fine including 2 frogspawns and an Elegans along with my blastos acans and diplo so not really sure why. This is not the first time it has happened to me but the first time in this aquarium.

Tank Parameters:
temp 79
pH 8.3
Ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate~0
Ca 430

Using 2 250 HQI and 4 65W pc bulbs. 215RR

Thanks for any and all info.

Jim

Jim,

Did you check your Alk as well. What salt are you using? Back when I was using Oceanic salt I had problems with my heads of LPS slowly dieing. It was due in part to have trouble keeping the Alk in line due to the salt. Since changing to something more stable I have not had any further issue with any of my LPS. Thought maybe you might be running into something similar.

Josh thanks for the input I was using Oceanic salt in the 100g before I upgraded to 215RR and switched to tropic marin so Alk isnt a problem now :) thanks again for your input Jim
