He can I tell if a coral dies?

I have a rainbow wellso that's been in my tank for two weeks. It shrinks up at night when the lights are off and opens up during the hours the lights are on. For the past two days It has not opened up and is hard, not soft like normal. It is still super colorful, I'm just wondering if this is normal for it to stay shrunk for a few days. My water params are good and all the other corals look happy. Of course I'm still fairly new and this is my first "expensive" coral so maybe I'm just freaking out over nothing.

What about water flow? A welsoeven in a great tank will not be happy getting beat up with water current I place them on the bottom where there is very little water flow or something to break up direct flow. What kind of lights do you have?

Lighting is a 4 bulb t5 with 2xblue+, coral+, and Fiji purple run for 7 hrs a day. Sitting on the sand bed with not much flow.

Other livestock:
Purple tang
Lyre tail anthias
2x chromis
2x ocellaris clowns
Bangai cardinal
Longspine urchin
Emerald crab
5 turbo snails
6 zoa frags
Ora green birds nest sps frag
Finger leather
Green hairy mushrooms
Frogspawn
Daisy polyps
Lined brain

Try moving him up on the rocks a little closer to the light. I had my welso under the same lighting and he did not do well but under the halides he was fine. Try to find a spot on the rocks with not too much flow.

Can you post your parameters

It has spread out some and the feeding tentacles are out so I know it's not dead. Now to just figure out why it hasn't been happy.

Man, I didn't freak out this much over my kids.
