Hawk Fish with Popeye

Hello

I noticed my hawkfish has popeye 2 days ago. I had some marine melafix on hand and started treating it. The label states that it is safe for all corals, fish and inverts. My worries are will the marine melafix heal the fish without killing off corals and my other fish? I have a 10 gallon tank i can set up to treat him, but i dont want to stress him more. I would also have to tear my tank apart to catch him. Can this work?

Hi,

Pop-eye can be caused by injury(usually only one eye affected), bacterial infection(usually both eye's affected) or bad water quality. High nitrates/nitrites or ammonia, and skewed salinity can cause this condition. You can treat the tank with epsom salt which will relieve the pressure behind the eye but you must take steps to ensure water quality is high. You really should try to find the cause of this before trying to treat imo. I'm sure others will add more info to this for you. :)

Cheers,
