Hawaii Red Strip Hawk Fish/ bye bye cleaner shrimp

Bought a really nice Hawaii hawk fish last week end... looks cool and is not shy,,,
Bought some cleaner shrimp from Franks today as I needed some shrimp in my 120....

2 hours after I put shrimp in tank wife ask me "what is that sticking out of the Hawk Fish's mouth"?

Need I say more ? :evil:

expensive fish food !!!

Moral of the story.... these fish love cleaner shrimp !!!

Yes, the various hawks love to eat shrimp. Back when I lived in Shreveport I was visiting my favorite lfs and the owner was very upset. He had gotten in a very small flame hawk. He threw it into his display tank and within a few minutes his very large six line wrasse had it hanging out of his mouth. So they are not always the predator!

I've never had a problem with them and large cleaner shrimp. The flame hawk is one of my favorite fish.
 
MY arc eye was the meanest fish I had ever seen. I once had to tap on the glass to make him let go of new neon arabian pseudo. He killed lots of stuff. Only fish I was ever not that sad to see go. Could not catch him either, wily as hell.
