Yes some of them are good an reliable. I think most people use the one for Alkalinity and Phosphorus ULR and the rest don't seem to get as consistent results. Then use your other preferred test kits for the other parameters. I use those 2 Hanna checkers and use the Elos for the rest of mine. I think others use the Salifert as well but I haven't used those before so not sure.

I have the Hanna Alk, Po4, and calcium checkers. The Alk and Po4 are easy to use. The calcium checker requires a few more steps. It's gotten a lot of criticism for being unreliable. The reason why is the aquarium test sample is very small. It's .1ml. If you're not accurate with that measurement, you'll get a bad reading. Hanna is now shipping these kits with a mini pipette that is more accurate. My wife bought me a lab grade mini pipette that measures .1ml exactly. That's made a huge difference in accuracy.

I love my Hanna Checkers.  I have the ALK, CAL, and regular Phosphorus.  I am selling the Calcium checker because I have gotten to really like using the Red Sea Pro kit for calcium, but the other two are great. One recommendation is get the ultra low phosphorus checker and not the regular.  The regular works fine, but if you are chasing the magical .03 you will get more reliable results with the ULR checker.

I am guessing the .1 ml issue is the problem I have had with mine.  I was never able to get consistent results out of the Hanna Ca tester.

That's been the criticism. I contacted Hanna and they sent me a new syringe that was a little more accurate. They recognize the problem and they are now shipping the new kits with the micro pipette. I never trusted the Hanna calcium checker until I had my water tested using the Triton ICP test service. The Hanna checker was more accurate than the Elos test kit or the Red Sea test.

Ha! They should provide those for free for all of us that bought it without one!  The tester is just about useless without it.

I don't disagree with you. Because the tank sample is so small, any inaccuracy is going to screw up the test. I'm considering getting one that measures 1ml to be sure that's accurate too. I could use it with the calcium and the Alk.

Yeah looks like Hanna has the 1 ml for $125 on their site also :-O This one will do 1-10 ml and probably cover all the other tests in that range.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MDQWDCD/ref=od_aui_detailpages01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
