Have a RKL? Want to connect stuff to channel 2&3? HERES HOW!

So if you have a Reefkeeper, Reefkeeper lite, or even Apex controller- you know all these have one big fault... using those darn solid state relays that don't turn off with some equipment, mainly;

- Moonlights
- Dosers
- Powerhead Pumps (Koralia, MJ, etc)
- Aqualifters
- Low powered LED accent lights
- ETC

In order to make them turn off, you need to put something between them to draw a little more juice (well, not really, just to draw energy a little differently so that the relay will react). You can add a single outlet surge suppressor, but the problem with that is that it is pretty bulky and takes up too much space in the plugs leaving you with an unusable plug. You could also add a regular surge bar (with a lit LED on the switch of the bar), but unless you want a mess down there, thats not recommended.

OR YOU COULD DO WHAT I DID! ITS THE CHEAPEST AND BEST OPTION!

Go to target (where I got mine, im sure they sell them at walmart as well) and get a small package of 8" adapter cords ($3-5). If you can't find them, ask for cords that extend out from surge suppressors so you can use all the plugs (this is their original purpose anyway). The cool thing about these, is that they light up; THIS is how they make the relay turn off. They come in a package of 3 and all cords have different colors (mine where white, green, and orange.... note this is the color that they light up as well).

Now simply put a cord in-line with whatever your connecting (You can now use outlets 2 and 3 in a RKL PC4 with Anything, I have them hooked up to Koralia 1400's in wavemaker mode with no problems). Also, because they light up, its a bit easier to see which outlet is on [smilie=smile.gif] .... i might actually do this with all outlets, as its easier to see if their on like this than by looking at the tiny dots on the side on a PC4.
