Hard coral advice

I am a recent member and boy things have changed in the saltwater hobby. I used to manage a nice pet shop in Abilene and I thought I knew so much then(early 90's). I have been introduced to many inventive and interesting techniques, equipment and more. I have a couple of questions.
I got my brother hooked after inheriting my old tank. He has a galaxy that has been slowly dying off. I use to take a turkey baster with freshwater and squirt it on the dead area. water quality is great. use to open fine. any suggestions.

Well, there will be more qualified people to help ya, but I would be curious as to onset?..has this been a problem since youve had it? Is it a lighting issue? Is the tank being fed decently?

I have a galaxy that is awsome. It is as bushy as can be. It really bushes up when I feed the tank (cyclopseze, home made food, etc). You may want to find out the tank levels, lighting and some paramaters so we can give you the best possible answers for him. Im sure it can recover

Jimmy, we don't know what you know at this point, so you'll have to give us as much information about your system and how you are caring for it for us to help you.

You don't need to use freshwater to blow off any corals in your tank. Just let the turkey baster to suck up tank water and puff it at the coral in your tank.

We need to know the water's parameters.

This is actually my brothers tank. He has a DAS 45 gal. with vho lighting water quality has been great. 1.023 salt level, temp 79, every other day Phyto, Kalkwasser, he uses Iodine, and the two Kent product Tech cb I think. Every thing else is doing good. I am about to get him to join. He has recently gotten into the hobby here lately and has the bug. Yall know what I mean. Just trying to give himsome help. He lives three hours away. I'll talk to him soon. Thanks, Jimmy
