Happy Birthday to me...

So it was recently my birthday and my wife got me a dew things for my tank. As I had told some I had my coral and fish in a 20 gallon tank while waiting on finishing my LEDs for my 150 tall. In the mean time once the cycle on my big tank was done I moved all my fish and most of my rocks to the new tank and they have been going great. I just had three drop lights over my tank so I could not move what little coral I have.

We dropped by DNA a week or two back and found a new set of lights at a great sale price so the wife bought them for me. They are not LEDs but for now they are running great. They were new in an unopened box but they had had them so long they dropped the price by $500.00. It's a 36" Coralife with one 250watt MH, two 65 watt antics, and two moonlight LEDs. She then grabbed a Koralia 1150 gph circulation pump and added it to the pile. Then when the weekend came she had me order a Reef Angel controller and a dosing pump for the tank. Then to top it all off she found a Duncan frag that she liked and bought it for the tank too.

So now I have everything I need except a scheduled frag swap. :) I did get a couple new frags besides the Duncan about three weeks ago. One was a Pink Colt Coral that had one good stalk on it and a couple that looked like they were not long for this world. The other one was a shell that had two large green button polyps and one small one, then the other half of the shell was covered in what looked like more Pink Colt Coral that was also on it's way out. I am happy to say that once it hit my tank and under the new lights all of the Colt Coral has made a come back.

What is sad though is I have lost most of the coral that I got at the last frag swap. I really trashed the water getting most of the rocks and fish out of the 20 gallon when I was putting them in the 150. So I took the coral and remaining rock and put it in the refugium with the lights from the 20 over them. I don't know if I just did not have enough flow or what but they were not doing so good. I kept trying to move them to give them the same amount of light they were getting in the 20 but I guess it was not enough. I finally moved them back to the 20 gallon tank but I guess not fast enough.

I saved the two GSP frags which are doing great now but not near as green as they were when I got them, some Blue Berry Zoa's (Thanks Alex from Reef Remedies), some Zoa's which I can't remember what they are, just that I got from DetroitRodeo, and the three news ones (Duncan, Colt's, and the Green Buttons) Now I need to get several more corals, more inverts, and a few more fish.

This tank has been a long time in building since I started collecting things for the tank over a year and a half ago, and just now got it where I can keep everything alive in it. Still a few things to do like my ATO floats need to be mounted and a pump bought so the Reef Angel can start doing it's ATO duties, and then a couple reactors to be built... But that will all come time time.

Thanks for all the support on here folks.

Sounds great, Tim. And we will have another fragswap announcement soon.
