Hey everyone. I've been out of the reefing picture for a bout a year but we just bought a house early this year and have plans for a 120 gallon inwall but not at this time.
But, I have the reefing bug. And I still have my old 20 gallon I had used for SPS and LPS a while back. So I've dusted the 20 gallon and am starting the planning. I found a great deal on rock so that's mainly what has got me going.
For this 20 gallon I have 2 ideas. I either plan on doing a couple SPS and maybe a frogspawn, some rics and zoas.
My other idea is doing an anemone and having a clown fish.
My equipment I need advice on is lighting. As of now I'm going with 4-6 T5s. But I've also thought of going with a Phenoix 14k DE
Flow, for a 20 gallon I could just go cheap and get a koralia. But I thought of an MP10 as well but it's a bit more costly.
Skimmer, last time I had my 20 gallon, I was told numerous times that a skimmer on a small tank was uneccessary. Frequent, small water changes were better. So, thoughts on this? I have a skimmer in mind if skimmer is the route to go
I'm getting 30 lbs. of rock. But I want advice on the tank bed. I thought about going bare bottom and having some good flow in the tank. Last time I had a problem with sandstorms and then crevices with debri build up. Thought of just doing without sand. If going barebottom, what is recommended to protect the bottom glass?
That's about it for now. Thanks in advance!
