GSM Clown causing sandstorm

The Goldstripe Maroon Clown in the display here at work has taken up a new hobby. It is flapping its tailfin directly over the sand, stirring it up like crazy, starting to bury the bubble coral. I hadn't noticed it do this before, just started yesterday as far as I know.

Can anyone explain this behavior?

I have a maroon that does the same thing, not a gold-striped, but someone else on here told me they do this though.

I guess they like sand boxes too....

That makes sense. Thanks.

I need to upgrade the lights so I can get her an anemone. She's been contemplating hosting some button polyps.

Sounds like a female that is nesting. Do you have a male as well? Provide a BTA and she'll stop. said:
Not necessarily.. if the BTA (or mushroom, or gsp, or whatever she hosts) is near the sand, she may still make a mess. My tomato did the same, even though she was ensconced in the BTA.

My GSM does this all the time. Sometimes it just seems that she is cleaning house. Her latest thing is to move dead corals branche to the back of the tank.

Damn funny to see her carrying it.
