For me it's really hard to say. I have 2 small refugiums w/chaeto. (6g Eclipse (modded) attached to my 20g and a CPR AquaFuge on my 24g) Both have 10W PC bulbs. The flow isn't high enough to tumble them, but that's not to say it wouldn't benefit. I have to thin both containers at least every 1-2 weeks, but because they're small I only pull out about 2 tennis ball sized chunks out. I toss the thinnings in a 14g plastic container with a 25w 5500K bulb (Sylvania spiral) over it until it grows to a 1-2 gallon bag full.
In the two refugiums I would say it's high nutrients from feeding my tanks. But I can't be sure on the 14 gallon container. It has only some spare rock I tossed in it, an in tank Whisper filter with no media for circulation. I haven't done a water change in ?? not sure how long. I just top it off when I remember... it's probably the most neglected tank ever. I don't test anything, sometimes add B-Ionic. Ocassionally add phyto. It sits next to sliding glass doors and gets about 2 hours of direct morning sunlight. But after adding the chaeto in it within a month I'll have about 1-2 gallon ziplock bag full. There's a couple snails, the hermit crabs I've banished from my tanks and a small clam attached to a rock that are all thriving.
It might be a different species because it doesn't get really curly, but it grows really well irregardless of the varied surroundings. Not sure if this info helps.
