Group buy for ACjr's?

Well its that time that I have some extra money and want to get a an ACjr. I thought many many months back I saw someone do a group buy on here for them. I was just seeing if anyone knows a good place to do one...

If so, id love to see if we can get several people to lower the price maybe.

TIA

Evan

ya if i remeber right i think the price of them with the group buy with standard ph probe was like 256 or somethin.

I just have no idea who would do a group buy for them

awesome!

ill email greg and see what i can do. If anyone knows him or somethin or would like to host a group buy i bet we can get several people to jump on board.

all i really need is the acjr with the temp prob, serial port, standard or labgrade ph, and dc8

You might want to try this website for that kind of information.

I would be interested but why not the RK 2? That's a question I would like to study before committing.

i may be interested in 1 or maybe 2 controllers, depending on what it is limited too and how much

Just wanted to throw this out there, so no one gets suprised...

If you want to use the ACjr with a PC 24/7 you will need to make or buy your own serial cable. The serial cable costs $14.95 plus if you want to leave it plugged in all the time Neptune recommends you to buy their ground serial port connector (PH probe issues without it) for $39.95 which adds a total of $54.90 to the overall cost.

Blue Tort, what is the major advantage you see in the AC jr. vs. the RK2?
Looks like the RK2 might be a little more user friendly.

i have a friend that has the rk2 and has nothing but problems with it - he programs it and it works fine for 3-4 hours then starts freaking out and turning things off and on randomly - could be just him though

i have the ac jr, and it works great - no issues at all.

One big difference (for me) in the Neptune stuff vs. the RK2 is the expandability; I'm about to add a second tank (with separate probes, switched outlets, etc.) to my AC3, and am already planning a third.

For anyone interested in Tunze stream pumps, Neptune is supposed to be introducing a Tunze controller module for the AC3jr, AC3 and AC3Pro at MACNA.

Apparently it will run $175, and include the ability to do some advanced stuff, such as resonant wavemaking, etc. and work with any of the Tunze pumps that work with the single / multi controllers.

If a person added this to a couple of modded 6055s, it could be the making of a fairly awesome flow system on the cheap (not counting the cost of the AC3/AC3jr controller to begin with).

You can do pretty much the same mods as you can on a 6025 / 6045 -- open up some additional venting for more flow, shorten the nozzle for a wider flow, etc.

At least in theory -- I've not tried it yet -- I'm a little more resistant to taking a Dremel to a $200 part than I was in to taking it to a 6025 :)

The difference wouldn't be as dramatic, as the 6055 is a lot less restricted to begin with.

To me the AC3 and the ACjr aren't even in the same class. The AC3 does so much more and does give you more expandability, but the ACjr is limited and makes it very similar to the RK2.

You can't do the probe expansion on the Jr., but you can still add stuff like the moonlight simulator, the new Tunze controller thing, and the various DC4/DC8/DC4HD outlet sets.

I'm a geek, so just having Ethernet on the AC3 settled the question of AC3jr/AC3 for me. :)

When you said cheap I thought maybe there was a way to modify one of the the cheaper 60xx nano streams and make them a 6055.
