Green hair alge - On a particualr rock

[I recently bought some small pieces of LR off of someone. One or two of the pieces have hair alge on them. Should i remove them and scrape it off?? What would be the best thing to do?????]

[did the rocks already have hair algae or did it grow after you added it to your tank? If your tank's parameters are good, the hair algae should choke out if it was already on the rock. The lawnmower blennt should definately do the trick if all else fails.]

[Yeah i think it was already on the rock. The rock is at the top of the tank, so should i take it out and scrape it off just to be sure??]

[Pinch it off, then put your snails on the residue. Keep putting the snails back on that rock each day until you see clean rock.]

[Now i have bubble algae too!! Is there anything you can do when you get LR from another persons tank to make sure that you dont transfer bad things into your own tank?? Should you leave it out for a bit or dip it in FW?]

[Manually remove whatever you don't like, or if you are like me you'll have a tank full of reeflings dying to clean up the latest arrival.

I can assure you that all the corals that were in the workshop today have been completely scoured by my livestock for the past couple of weeks. My Naso has a love/hate relationship with valonia. He makes sure none of it is in my tank, perhaps because he loves to eat it or perhaps he doesn't want to see it. I've watched that fish flip and chase a patch of zoanthids as he surgically removed one bubble at a time with amazing precision.

While bagging the corals today, Mr Spock was very involved. He might have even entered the bag had he been given the chance! :wwww:]
