Green Clown Goby FINALLY ATE

Well after the loss of my yellow clown goby, I saw a green clown goby at the fish gallery and thought I would try again without the hungry inverts in the tank.

Anyways, I haven't seen him eat at all...for about a week now. Is he eating when I'm not looking? Everyday, he's perched up on a powerhead hiding from the rest of the tank. I haven't seen him move from there. I was worried he died but then he'll move to the heater an inch away.

What can I do to get him to eat. I bought tiny frozen foods and target fed him, but he didn't seem to care. I also added a couple drops of garlic and still nothing.

Thanks...Joe

Make sure that the food is not too big, enriched brine shrimp, mysis, finely chopped fish or shrimp flesh. You can try cyclopeeze also to see if it will eat that. Maybe it's eating pod's at night but keep trying different foods. You can try live brine shrimp..it has no nutritional value but is good for getting finicky eaters to start eating, once they start eating then mix in other food's slowly. Good luck :D

Cheers!

I bought frozen baby brine shrimp which are pretty tiny. I saw a little hatchery at petsmart for $10 but figured I would try the frozen first. I'll start researching hatching my own after class today.

Thanks Ron

I would try Cyclopeeze. In the future said:
Thats good advice. I should have thought of that. I'm gonna get to the fish gallery in the morning and see if they have cyclopeeze or live brine shrimp.

Thanks Matt

If you get live brine just get a small amount and try to target feed the lil fellow a few. It's the movement of the live brine that we are hoping will trigger the natural urge to feed. I still recommend you purchase the Cyclopeeze regardless, just be very careful and only feed a small pinch mixed with tank water. Too much will wreck your water quality pretty quick and can cause cyano outbreaks if you use too much.

Cheers!

well I got a little 1 oz. squirt bottle of cyclopeeze and target fed him with the pumps off and he finally ate. His stomach was getting pretty sunken in so I'm really glad it worked. I think part of the problem is that he is sooo shy. He ate a piece of mysis that just happened to flow by him while the pumps were on when I was feeding the other fish. But if a piece comes close, he jolts towards it in short choppy motions but won't leave the edge of his stoop to get it.

Anyways, I'm glad he finally ate something. I might still go ahead with some live brine shrimp this week though.

Thanks for all of the help.
