Gray slime

Hello!
I have a 215g that is new. The setup has been running for about 4 months. I have this gray looking slime stuff on the sand. It also looks like little brown hairs are on it. I tried to get a pic, but it wouldn't capture the details enough to bother posting. This stuff just started spreading like crazy. Any clue what it is? How do I get rid of it?

it could be diatoms, which is normal for a new cycle or it could be red slime algae that builds up when there is an excess of nutrients, too much light, or not enough flow. More flow can normally help aleviate both, but there may be more you need to do depending on which it actually is. can you get a pic? also, can you give us the details of what all you have and the tank parameters etc...
