what I have found is too much lighting will typically change the physical size of the polyp more than it's coloration. Too much light = tiny polyps, too little light = long extended body tubes. I have seen polyps change color due to lack of nutrition(organics) or lights shifting color spectrum like old t5 bulbs not being changed often enough.
