Got my Lalo LR today!

I received my lalo live rock from foster and smith this morning. Amazingly it's not too stinky. Doesn't smell like roses but it's not near as bad as I expected. I had it shipped overnight and it is definately much better than any LR Ive bought off the net before. Has some nice shapes. I was expecting a disaster honestly. Now I just get to sit back and watch the ammonia climb.

Here's some pics of the Lalo. The tank is still a little cloudy. Pretty nice looking rock...havent seen much except some cool macros and sponges...BUT wait till tomorrow when the TBS rock and sand arrives. Then Ashlar and I will have all the creepy crawlers you guys can stand.

Cool rock, but I think ya' need to prune back the algae that's growing outside the tank on the right!!! :)

Looks good. It will color up niecely for you. I think i took some pics of some of mine when I first got it. It colored up nicely compared to today.

:D Can't kill that Ivy no matter how hard I try...Only your algae grows like that Brian.

I'm glad it colored up nicely for ya. It is beautiful rock and I hope I can retain some of the cool colors. My base from reefer rocks needs to hurry the heck up though and I cant wait to get my hands on that TBS rock...well actually my hands arent going anywhere near it.

That gives me an idea for a new reef-related party game! See who's willing to stick their fingers into the most holes in a fresh piece of TBS rock...

(And no, I would NOT be participating in said game! I've seen what those lil' buggers can do, I used to keep a few Mantis...)

Not to mention that folks have been finding ciranolids in their TBS rock. Aren't those the guys that will even latch onto YOU as well as your fish?

Nuh-uh.. gloves for me tomorrow.

There is something seriously wrong with people that buy rocks that contain blood suckers at $6/lb. Yup...time to dig out the ol shoulder high gloves.

Seriously though I read somewhere they can only live a month or so without a host before they starve. They scare me worse then the mantis shrimp. I'm definately waiting at least two months to put any livestock in the tank.

Hmmm... Not sure latex is gonna be much defense... I can prolly arrange for some chain-mail gloves and gauntlets from my Ren Faire friends if ya' wanna borrow 'em...

Besides, listen to you! Thought you were the nice person that wanted everything to live! Depriving those poor innocent lil' Isopods of a meal! Maybe you should stick your bare arm in the tank and be a host for them so they can live?

(Sorry, in a rather cheeky mood today, couldn't resist... :) )

Your giving me the creeps. The bad thing is I have two mantis shrimp and they still make me scream on occasion. I was feeding one krill night before last and he wacked my stick and about made me injure myself. Im a big scaredy cat so this should be interesting. After all my serpent star gives me the shivers. I'm pretty creeped out but still very excited!

BTW anything that sees me as a meal is not on my list of things to save.

I was thinking about getting some of the rock, "the package", but they were AWOL for a while due to bad weather, it's good the hear that they are back up and running. Are you getting base rock or coral rock?

Thanks. Whats nice about the Lalo rock is that it will retain some pink and green coraline algae along with sponges. Enjoy

I have TBS LR and I am very happy with it. I haven't had any hitch hickers and my one mantis didn't make it past shipping, but I did wind up with a cute little goby.
