Got a plan. What do you think?

I've had a 29g built into the wall in the dining area for several years. It was fresh for most of that time. I switched it over to salt back in Jan. Not long after that from the weight of the rock combined with the thin glass bottom of a cheap (Top-Fin) tank I ended up with a cracked bottom. I pulled the tank from the wall and put it in the garage and forgot about it until now.

Here's the plan. I'm going to get a piece of 3/8" thick (non-tempered) glass cut for it. Drill for a 1" bulkhead in the center and for 3/4" bh's in each corner. After I get the bottom siliconed back on and the whole thing re-sealed I'm going to make an acrylic overflow for the center. It will be just big enough for a 1" Durso. The two returns will have loc-line coming up from the bh's. The tank will drain to another 29g converted to a fuge with the return pump going thru a SCWD to the 2 corner bh's.

My intentions are for this to be a species tank for my pair of GBM clowns. An RBTA, some snails, and maybe a couple of Scarlet hermits will be the only other livestock included.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions (especially for adequate lighting) appreciated.

Why do you want the overflow in the center? Is this tank viewable from both sides? Or do you mean the center of the backwall?

Ouch! The piece of glass is gonna cost me about $60. $30 for the glass + $10 x 3 for the holes. I figured I'd let them do the holes so if it breaks it's on them.

for that ki9nd of money, you could probably by a aga 29gal that has a new seals and 3/8" glass for the same or less, then have it drilled.

Just an option
