Well. It's official. I had one frag of yellow red finger that was doing remarkable and in less then a week had grown a new branch. I introduced another large yellow finger gorgonian which was half dead that I was trying to rececitate with this. Rather then frag off the mostly dead tissue and try saving the healthy frags I placed the entire coral into my tank. My original frag stayed fine and healthy. A day after the second gorgonian was brought in the healthy parts started to polyp and heal some. I thought it was a start. A third gorgonian (WC which was in perfect health, despite the transplant.) Was intoduced, polyped after a day and stayed healthy and fine for about 2 or 3 days. I realize that I needed to up the flow in my tank as I had not seen my first yellow gorgonian polyp in about 2 days at this point.
I upped the flow from a Maxi-Jet 600 to a 1200. I waited a few hours and hasn't seen any polyp. I FW dipped and made sure no cyano or any slime was disturbing them, and placed them back in the tank. 24 hours later. I see definate signs of rapid tissue deterioration in all 3, and unrepairable damage.
I'm about in tears as I think gorgonians are by far my favorite coral in my display. I watch in pain as my beautiful new additions look miserable and don't know if there is anything that can be done. Did one gorgonian spread it to the others? (I'm sure that's what QT is for.) However all seemed well. Could the 3rd WC have brought something in with it. It was 'shedding' a clear white feathery material when I brought it in.
Any information and/or advice as I scoure the net until the sun comes up. TIA
