Gomez?

I just got an acropora gomezi colony from Live Aquaria today and found something interesting/strange. The first pic shows some white spots on the tips in a few places on the coral. I wasnt sure if the tissue was dying, or if they were 'growth tips'. After getting it into the tank these areas were the first to show signs of activity. It looks like feather duster worms live in these spots. However, they open in a sweeping motion - like a fan - very rapidly. Tried to get a good pic, but no go, so I used PhotoS to zoom in on an area. Anyone know what it could be?

Barnacles. I've had a few colonies with them as well...they usually don't survive long in aquariums due to nutrient poor conditions. Nothing to worry about.

Oh man, that's going to eat up an hour of my time.. LOL!

Cool link.

i have had a worm that looked similar it multiplies and kills. After death inspection was a bump and i clould break the bumps off to reveal a hole in the coral, on a live colony i picked the worm off and dug out the hole, colony has lived(was neighboring colony). I just metioned beacuse they look similar with tiny white arms like feathers and the retract quickly when you get near. Casey

Here's another picture of a barnacle that I photographed at a LFS one day.
