Gold Stripe Maroon Clown - Malnourished?

I acquired this GSM Clown on a tank buy. the tank conditions were less than appropriate and even though I got all of their supplies I found no food for him. I suspect that he hadn't been fed properly for some time and when I first saw the tank the water was probably pushing 95 degrees.

He's 4-5 inches long so I assume he's out of the juvenile stage. He eats well but his stripes aren't as golden as I have seen on others. Does this happen when they are not given the proper diet or is this a typical thing that happens as a fish ages?

Mine is almost black... and at times loses stripe coloration. Its not nutritional since she eats like a pig, but is due to her abusing herself against the hammer coral she hosts.

That fish looks fine, her fins are not ratty and she appears plump enough. I'd suggest a combo meal for her, a healthy feeding of mysis and some formula two flake. Her color is deep maroon, but most females get dark like that when they get that big, at least the ones I have seen. Just keep feeding her well, maybe twice a day and any problems will correct themselves.

Keep an eye out for her poop though, if its white/translucent strings, it could be an internal parasite.
