Ok I figured I would post here because if there is a .01% chance this scratch could lead to a blow out id lose a lot...

I have a 4 inch scratch on my biocube 29, I can barley feel it on the inside with my finger nail, not on the outside(duh?). I have known it was there but it seems bigger, I have no way of knowing if it is or not because its hard to notice. I have marked the edges of the scrape so I will know from now on if it is growing. Assume it is NOT growing, it safe? I have my MP10 vortech on that glass wall, could that contribute? I'm moving it to the other side after posting this.

The tank is full of SPS +a clam and fish, one of which I can not lose, I have had him for 5 years and I guess i'm attached :) and the g/f would murder me...

Thanks guys

the fact that you moved it made me feel better [smilie=clapping.gif] ha thanks, I still may buy a $99 biocube 29 (tank only) online. I guess I was so worried because I remember back in like 2006/7 biocube 29s were failing left and right.

Hi,

I run a scratched glass repair company, and I see scratched glass all the time. Although theoretically scratches should decrease the integrity no matter how deep or shallow; practically I have never seen a glass piece whether flat or aquarium have any problems (i.e. cracking or exploding) because of scratches on the glass. Scratches are certainly nothing like when your windshield get a chip and then begins to crack; I have never seen glass react this way to scratches. So I would rest assured that your fish will be fine.
