Glass drilled - Where should i take my tank

[yes the do a good job but, IMO they want a blood sample before they do any work for anyone. and it takes them a long time for anything. im looking for a place that i can take my tank and have it drilled and have it back that day not 2 weeks later.]

[Call around some glass working places in your area, don't expect a warranty or replacement if it breaks...but if its a bigger tank with thicker glass it shouldn't be an issue.

I found a place that would drill my 20L, though for the $20 cost of the tank I wasn't concerned if it broke/cracked.]

[If you don't mind the drive you can go to Dallas Flat Glass Supply on Luna Rd. and Royal Ln. They should be able to drill it while you wait.]

[This happened to you Jeremy? Most people that have had their tanks drilled have posted their satisfaction.]

[Jeremy,

I don't recall having a request from you for drilling your tank. In fact we DO NOT have any request from you for any services or products.

I'm not quite sure what message you're trying to send. All I know is we tell our customers everything upfront. If it takes 2 minutes to do it, we tell them it'll take 2 minutes. If it takes 3 weeks to do it, we tell them it'll take 3 weeks.

If you have any issues with our company please contact us directly 817-652-4488. Or better yet, contact the BBB if you have any legitimate business issues.

B kind. NO slandering please.]

[No offence intended Vincent, but just because you cant find his name in your computer or on a piece of paper somewhere doesnt necessarily mean that he hasnt been to your to shop to chat with you. I do not know for a fact if he has or has not been, but I have chatted with many LFS owners in visits to Dallas/FtW and I assure you most of them do not know me by name.

I have heard a lot of positive AND negative reviews of your shop and services and Im sure there are good reasons for all of them.]

[Hmmm everyone that asks me about getting their tanks drilled I send to Tranquilscape. He is the only one I know of that drills and builds overflows, I have sent at least 10 people there and they all say they are happy! I even sent a few personal friends there, and that is a high endorsement from me.

IMHO if you do drill tanks for people there is not alot of money in it, because you spend so much time telling them about how you aren't responsible for breaking the tank, then assuring them you have done it x number of times without a break... It seems like tedious work to me for little reward, so I would be very grateful to the man that WILL drill it for you.

I remember a few years back when I moved into my house I could not find a single person ANYWHERE, and believe me I looked, to drill my 165 Oceanic. To this day it has a hang-on (SP?) overflow. I would have killed for a person to drill it for me, so leave Tranquilscape alone or you may ruin it for everyone!]

[Amanda,
..No offense taken.

Obviously, you don't know how we operate our business. We actually put a great deal of efforts into getting to know our customers, our customers' setups, our customers' animals. We are NOT like any other LFS. FYI, I do know my customers by name. Let me put it this way, if I personally see you at my shop three times, I will know your name!

As for feedbacks(possitive or negative), I've said it before and I'll say it again, just be fair and truthful.

Last but not least, please understand. I'm one of the owners of Tranquil Scape. I'm responsible for our company's image. If anyone falsely paints a picture our company, of course I have to respond.

I appreciate your concerns.

[It is rare that a buisness has zero negative experiances. I have never been to his store but I have heard mixed reviews. I dont know why people get bent out of shape becasue someone posts something negative about a buisness. It is bound to happen. Take SWP for instance, I had heard the worst things about his "attuide" but I enjoy his store. Some have uber great experiances, some have ok experiances and some leave disappointed. I don't doubt when customers have a great visit so I try not to doubt when they have negative ones either.]

[Chiming in here..
I have visited Tranqualscape 3 times and never bought anything till the last time.Vincent and Liam on both previous visits took time to actually talk to me and ask questions about my set-ups , what livestock i had , and how they could help.I got tours of the shop and they both treated me like I was the only customer they had.On the 3rd visit I purchased the 100 gal.A side note here but they both knew my name the 2nd visit.Anyways they are drilling 2 holes in my 100 gal and I trust his craftsmanship.Afterall , thats how he makes his living and im sure he backs up what he sells.

[i wasnt trying to slam tranquil scape at all why!!! why is it that some one cant express their opinion on this board? all i wanted to know was where else i could take my tank. these boards are getting crazy. all i said was it takes him a while to get things schedualed by E-Mail then it usualy takes them about 1 to 2 weeks to get one drilled. i didnt say that his service was bad in any way all. and all of the sudden im accused of slander. it is pretty sad when you accuse someone of slander because they just wanted to know where to go other than your shop vincent. why is it that eveyone else has to chime in. the post isnt a pro and con tranquil scape it is where to get a tank drilled.]

[Well, as much as I give my thumbs up to Tranquilscape (please note that Jeremy also said they do good work), Jeremy is right that this topic was to find out where he could get his tank drilled.

Jeremy--I think the remark that caused the problem was:
...IMO they want a blood sample before they do any work for anyone. and it takes them a long time for anything. said:
You were making a general statement that it takes them a long time for everything. I'm sure you meant no harm at all, but comments about a business should be more specific to your experience (ie. on 2 occassions it has taken them a week to answer my emails---note: example only, not my experience :;): ) After all, this is their lively-hood. It's fine to post negatives, just needs to be specific to your experience. Unfortunately, posts in emails and forums can be misunderstood. Believe me, I've had it happen at work where I write something in an email and it is totally misunderstood (and in this forum...right, Marc! :p ) .

So, back to the topic at hand. Anyone have any other places that Jeremy might be able to get his tank drilled?]
