Getting air into a submersible pump

purchased a 564 gph pump to connect to my protein skimmer but it doesn't appear to have a way to get air into it to create the air bubbles in my skimmer.

The skimmer I have is a red sea classic and it seems to have a place for air to go in but is there a way to make the water not come out if I put the air intake in the location where the air vent appears to go?

Any one have any experience setting this up? Is there a way to do it without having an air pump or is this required?

Thanks.

Im not familiar with that skimmer. I tried a google search and it looks like it has an air line at the pump outlet like most other skimmers. My reef octopus skimmers have a ring that goes on the pump outlet connected to an air line and muffler. The air is entrained by water flow into the flow to help make make the water foam and remove waste.

Do you have any pictures? Did you replace it with the same pump and parts?

Pics would be nice to see what you have. But I have used pvc that is slightly bigger and put it on the intake side for feeding my biopellets into the skimmer. You could do the same but with airline hose.

Sent from pay phone in the airport.

I got a used mag 9.5 which had a way to connect pvc to the intake and I got a airline into it and the skimmer is working nicely in my test 10 gallon that I was using to test out the skimmer. I have a ton more research to do for my sump since i'm not sure how to tell how big or how much water I should let into my tank on the way back into it. I'm concerned since my system is already running but I'm just adding the sump.
