FYI: Pavestone Pulverized Limestone found at...

Home Depot in Richardson at Coit and Campbell.

They have half a pallet left. It is in the garden section under the cover in the grass seed section. Walk in the garden section from the parking lot. Make a left as to walk to the store doors. Make a right into the last row (before entering the store doors) into the fertilizers and grass seeds. Look on the right hand side on the floor two sections down. It will be next to the grass seeds. (Thanks to Bob at Home Depot helping me find it... I walked right past it the first time I looked  )

The UPC in their system: #237-426

Your welcome :D

(I think this thread should list all the HD's in the metroplex that still have it available)

The home depot in arlington has almost a full pallet of this stuff. i looked at it and it sure does look super fine to me....seems like it woudl just disolve in the water? exit cooper and turn left at first light...

Are you sure it was the Pavestone Pulverized Limestone? There is another pulverized limestone from another manufacture that is powdery fine and used for field marking. That will not work well in our tanks!

99.8% sure it was (noticed how i still left room for error  ), it was in a brown paper bag in the gardening section and it was made by pavestone. I did not buy it because it looked super fine to me...like flour.

Look about 1/4 of the way down this page of my thread and you can get somewhat of an idea what it looks like in the tank. If your on a budget it works great in my opinion. It just takes a little extra rinsing. It took me about 5 minutes total rinsing time for each 50 lb bag.

I personally wouldn't run out and buy the store. It has been at most HD's for quite a while and I don't think it is going away anytime soon.

I've got a five gallon bucket of it dry if anyone wants it. I don't like the looks of it. Its kind of gray and when you get it wet it just turns to mud.

Then it sounds like you did not get the right stuff. The pulverized limestone is quite white and looks great in my tank and the other tanks I have seen it in. it definitely doesn't turn into mud.

Sorry I forgot the link in my post a while back that shows what it looks like.

Here it is. Look a little ways down the page and you can see what the pulverized limestone looks like. I am personally happy with it and it is nothing like mud.

I have some in my tank. I have 50lbs of pavestone pulverised limestone from home depot and about 20-30lbs of white sand from Pensacola Beach FL.

Mike: Is there different kinds colors, textures of this stuff. What I bought was in the excact spot in the store, in a brown paper bag that said, Pavestone Pulverized Limestone. About five bucks for 50 pounds. However, there is a different number on the UPC bar code. Scott mentioned that it sort of lightens up after it sits in a tank for a while. I put a little of this sand in a bucket and washed it several times then covered it with tank water, and let it sit for a couple of weeks, but it still looks dark to me, kind of gray, like cement. I wonder if I'm getting the same sand.

There may be different colors depending on what batch of sand your particular bags were filled from. They do not purposely make differently colors though. The pulverized limestone is used for balancing the pH of the ground for lawn maintenance (reason it in lawn and garden section) and there would be no reason for them to color it.

Out of the six or eight bags that I put in my display I had one that was kind of gray (you can see it in the lower left). You can see it in the following picture. Maybe just try another bag, it's cheap :D
