What budget friendly Fuge light do you use? I have Chaeto, A Little Dragons breath, And Caulerpa but can't make it grow. Others say it grow like weeds in theirs. I have a 5300k fluorescent screw in buld about 3 inches above the macroalgae.

I use a 6 white and 6 blue LED and my chaeto is finally growing, I tried 3 different light types before with no growth.

Have you tested your nitrates and phosphates? If 0 that may be why

X2 I just started biopellets to get nitrates and phosphates under control and my cheato growth has slowed way down

I am using biopellets, to lower nitrates and phosphates, but i am slowly raising the QTY of pellets. I am still running 20ppm over the weekend. down from 80ppm. I have a MJ1200(no valve) running it and pellets are tubling. I have not tested the water coming out to see it's 0ppm.
I do not have a test kit for Phosphates.

This is the bulb I am using

Running biopellets prob has cut down on the growth a very good sign. If you
don't plan to run a ulns I would maybe feed the fishes a bit more not more quantity of food but another feeding like morning and night

Depends on the size you want, but I used a $10 LED lamp from ikea and so far works good. Thought for $10 worthwhile giving it a go.

What is acceptable ppm for nitrates? What is considered ulns(ultra low nutrient system?

Nitrates need to be 0 and phosphates 0. In my opinion if they both run 0 for extended person that is ulns system. If you grow majority sps I would ayce suggest dosing amino acids

I use a 150 watt flood light, the caupulara took off when put under this light, the chaeto not so much. But I think that that may have more to do with the amount of flow. I will also have a 300 watt floodlight once i get a new bulb for it. The reason for the exessive amounts of light is cause it was 1) cheap 2) wasn't sure how much light I would need 3) the ablility to use part of my sump as a frag tank/holding area.
