I came on here looking for advice on a reef setup that I am thinking of buying and using for a freshwater setup. The owner told me that the back wall was covered in calcite and he wont be to specific on wether or not it can be removed...it is a acrylic tank. If the calcite can not be removed what effects will this have on a freshwater setup?

Scott, if you fill up the tank with water and add a couple of gallons of vinegar, the calcium carbonate will dissolve and the coraline algae will come right off with a plastic tank scraper.
