Fragging Closed Brain Corals

Hi DFWMAS,

Has anyone fragged their closed brain corals before or can it be done. If it can be done at all. If you have any links or any sugguestions on how to do it let me know.

I am just curious right not it so big and pretty I would be scared to try. I was thinking about if its not that risky for someone that knows what they where doing maybe even having them do it. Thanks for the info and please keep it coming.

Can you post a pic so we can get an idea of the size, and maybe a spot we can recommend to frag off?
 
Fragging a closed Brain is fairly easy. You can actually frag them with dermal. You can score them from the top cutting completely through the tissue of the coral and then when you are done, you can just drop them like 10 inches from ground and it will break into the pieces you cut. That is only used if the coral is really thick. Other wise you can just jut right through it. A coral saw is preferable to cut any coral.

Once you cut it, put it in a coral cleaning solution with iodine for a bit. Then return to aquarium in high flow for about a week to heel.
