fragging a leather coral... help?

I got a pretty good size leather coral that is actually becoming a "cloud" and taking the light away from everything else. What is a safe way to frag this? Has anyone in the NW fort worth area done this and would like to maybe give me a hand? thanks!

Sorry for the blue tint... it actually isnt really that blue lol

Just take a razor and cut it. It will heal very fast. Almost impossible to kill leathers like that. Or you can get rubber bands tie them on there tite and in a couple days that piece falls off. I remember the first time i fragged it was a devils hand. I thought i was going to kill it. But never did kill it or any leather. Now hard corals i have lost a couple in the past. :(

If you are only talking about a cutting a little piece that's one thing but if you plan to do some extensive cutting I HIGHLY recommend removing the Leather and doing it in a bucket of tank water. Be sure to rinse both the cuts and mother really well. Also plan to run some fresh carbon on your display. said:

Leathers can release INSANE amounts of toxins into the water of your tank. Is pull it and then make your frags.

Don't frag it!!! Let it grow! Looks pretty cool if I do say so...

Wear gloves & be careful of toxin squirts. Have Benedryl on hand in case you have any negative reactions. I used a plastic cutting board to cut mine on & bleach cleaned it when done. A new razor blade works great & the leather does heal fast. Somewhere on here I think there was a video or a link on fragging leathers.

Yeah... Honestly I was thinking of letting it grow a bit more and finding it an owner with a bigger aquarium, I still get nervous thnking of cutting it up and it's so beautiful when it opens up completely.
