Frag Swap Thread

Well, it's time again. Time to post your frags for the frag swap in 2 weeks. For those that don't know, the frag swap is taking place this year at the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park, November 12, from 7-9 pm.

Here's what I plan to bring to the swap. Please pm or email at christopher.d.rush@gmail.com if you are interested in something. I am willing to trade for SPS frags, colorful zoanthids or cash.

GSP - metallic green, small, 1/2" x 1/2" mat, more avail if requested
Xenia - 1 mounted, many other frags available
Colt frag - 1 mounted, small, but will grow fast
Red Mushroom Rock - small rock, 10-15 red mushrooms

Anthilia - small rock w/ 8-10 heads

I will also have a phyto station setup for trade. Everything that you need to get started, with the exception of the miracle grow and a starter culture.
 
Hello Chris!

Just a note to everybody

While you may certainly make pre-arrangements before the swap, the spirit of the thing is to give EVRYONE a fair shot at the items for sale / trade. If everything is spoken for before going, what's the point? You can do that at any time.

Those that do not use the forums - and yes, they are out there! - will not be able to buy anything, or trade, because they are spoken for.

IMO, it is better to go ahead and post what you will have - WITHOUT prices in THIS forum (rather For Sale), so that people will know what to expect, and get excited about it.

Please consider this. It is something we have to deal with every year, and there are many opinions out there. I do not mean to hijack the thread; I'd like to see everyone have a good time, and consider each memebr - you might even have better sales if you wait to make arrangements AT THE SWAP.

In all fairness, I went back and deleted the prices, since this is the Discussion forum.

The reason that I posted this thread was to try and get as much stuff sold/traded before the swap, b/c I will be there for a limited amount of time and I was hoping to make full use of that time.

Also, I was hoping that people would post thier frags so that everyone could know what was available. I, like many others, can't be in 2 places at once, trying to sell and buy and of course, talk shop with others.

Every year, we do out best to make sure that sellers, buyers, non-forum-users, and guests have an equal chance to trade and buy. Every year, we make improvements to the meeting, and I'm sure this year will be no different.

Of course, if you arrive late, we can't help you :wink: Your only chance to get anything, if you are late, is in the raffle - and yes, there will one. And if you bring 10 or more frags, there will be a special drawing for you (see the News Board for specifics.)

I remember doing that last year, which helped out tremendously. I hope this years is as good as last years. I came away with a lot of nice frags.

I plan on being there at 7, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to stay for the raffle. (Wife's parents will be in town. :roll: )

The selling/trading happens very quickly. A couple of years ago, it was over in 15 minutes, but very few people brought anything and the rest were throwing cash at the sellers. Last year went much better. I think our newsletter highlights the event.

I think Im actually going to make the frag swap. I am so excited. I just hope I can find some colorful zoos and possibly some ricordia.

C.D. I'm not an official spokesman for the club or anything, but considering I wasn't a member yet when I showed up for the last frag swap, and the generally open all are welcome attitude I've seen around here, I think it's a safe bet you'll be perfectly welcome...

(Hopefully someone in power will come along and confirm my statement... :) )

One more, this is supposed to be a yellow (somethingorother) but has turned sorta green, with bright green polyps. Bought at last frag swap, this is a frag from that frag, and is 2" at least
