Found Acro update

Well I can't find my original post. But when I was transferring corals from my 20 to prep moving to the 40 I found this little frag. That was February this year. Here's what it looks like now. I swear I don't know where it came from. I know I didn't buy it, I mean look how tiny it is to start with. I would've remembered paying for such a tiny frag. It could've been a freebie, but again it was really tiny and I pretty much remember all my corals. When I found it it was laying in the sand by the rock in the shade. It wasn't even half an inch. It has pretty neon blue tips. Any idea what it might be??

It's still quite small and thus hard to ID, but I can see redbugs all over it.

Are you going to treat your tank with Interceptor?

Well being as I never had red bugs and only seen them on pics I didn't know I had them till you pointed them out. Thank you. I don't have intercepter.

Edit: I have two dogs won't be hard to get.

But also after looking at closeups of these bugs, I think way back before I started collecting SPS I had them. I took a picture a couple years ago and wanted to send it to WetWebMedia for ID, if there were red pods, but I never did. I figured I was worrying for no reason.

Okay question about treatment. I did a search on our site for interceptor and I looked at Marc's site for the treatment. But I read one place that said bathe for 12 hours and one that said dip for 60 minutes. So I'm only going to treat corals. Which would it be?

Also, which of these corals would it affect the most. I looked carefully at all of them and did not see anything. Took pictures which helps to zoom in and nothing. Just the few on this one coral.

Montipora Capricornis, Blue tort, porites, millepora, green slimmer, bird's nest, pavona, turbinaria, unknown blue/green smooth coral which has similar texture as the one pictured here, just different color. The rest are all LPS. Except for my orange monti, the rest are all small enough to pull and treat outside the tank.

They tend to congregate on acropora primarily. They really like smooth skinned acros.

If you want to treat them in a different tank, set up a quarantine tank and dose them for 12 hours. After that, dip them in some rinse (tank) water, and put them back in your tank.

By not treating the display, they will probably reappear since they may be on the rockwork, other SPS or even LPS corals.

Thanks Marc. I have only the 3 smooth acros, two less than 1" and the other about 5". I'll keep an eye on them and will treat that one for now. It won't hurt the other corals to treat them when I frag will it? My candy canes or the Duncans? What about my zoas that I'm planning to move to the frag tank? I always dip frags in Pro Coral Cure before moving anything to the frag tank.

The only things affected by Interceptor are crabs and shrimp. Everything else is fine. You'll lose pods as well, but that's the point.
