Several months ago, I brought home a tiny snake from the Port Aransas collection trip. I didn't know if it was an eel or a snake, but it was so tiny and cute, I had to bring it home. I released it in the suncoral tank that night, and never saw it again.

Until two nights ago! I was feeding the suncorals, and I saw what I thought might have been a peanut worm. However, it didn't retract suddenly like they do when spooked. And this worm had a head! I watched with fascination realizing it was the little guy I thought I'd lost into my system's plumbing long ago. He apparently lives in the sand, and comes out to get a meal of mysis when I walk away. So for the past couple of nights, I've been trying to capture it on film.

He moves quickly, so these are rather weak shots, but you can make it out. I had to take both shots with a flash due to low lighting as that is what draws him out (as well as the smell of food).

I was told any saltwater snake is poisonous, so it would be good to find out if this is an eel or a snake at some point.

That tends to make sense, so thanks for chiming in. I posted over on RC in the forum where LeslieH frequents, hoping she'd recognize it.

So at least I know I don't have to buy tiny cute white mice to feed it now, right?

Observe it as it appears from time to time in my little pico tank.

Have you ever had an Unagi sushi ? let's fatten that little guy up and eat it :) JK..

Another funny story from Port A collection back in march. I took home an arnold crab, he was about 2-3" long. I placed him in my fuge on my counter tank.

Well, after a while I never seen him again, I though he may have died and the smaller crabs devoured on him.

Never think twice about it, I'd figured it's the wild caught brought to domestic die off...

Fast forward 2 months later, I was looking for my remote and was checking under my bed....wadya know ?????? I saw a dried crispy, crusty arnold crab under my bed lol..

You know where my kitchen is and you know where my bed (or your bed now) was, he must've jumped out of the tank, made his way through the carpet and into my bedroom...

funny story..

Very cool. At some point, I'd love to have a tank planted with sea grasses and a 12-14" DSB with a garden eel or two.

Wow, you could have clipped off one of your toes!! That's quite a story. Reefcast-worthy.

How's my little lionfish doing? :D

Let me see if I have anything current.

And it sits on my sump. I have water pumped up from the sump, into the tank and drain back into the sump.

Hey, what can I say? I'm a heavy feeder.

Tonight as I was testing out a Fuji 5100 that I might be buying, I noticed the little eel was completely out! Two pictures was all it took to get him wriggling for cover. Still, isn't he cute?
