Found a clam in my tank... - Keep it or get rid of it?

[On a rock i bought a few months ago.. there was what I thought to be a dead clam.. it was just the shell and i thought it was just stuck in the rock..

a few days ago i thought i saw it moving as a shrimp walked passed.. i thought I was just seeing things.. today I see it very active from its same place on the rock.. almost snapping at everything walking by it...

So is it good or bad? it blends into the rock so I cannot get a picture of it.. It has what looks to be a black tongue that comes out.. Should I give it something to eat??]

[Is it small? About the size of a dime? I think its a scallop. a hitchhiker from the live rock. a good think. the sign of a healthy tank.]

no.. its probably the size of a half dollar, or silver dollar... I got a better look at it.. it has two little black tongues with a stripe on the end of each of them.

EDIT:

I'll keep an eye on it for a few more days.. maybe I will try and pull it out of the rock and see how it does with the run of the tank]

[Its probably just a regular rock clam, a filterer just like any ordinary clam that we might eat only a small species. They usually do not make it that long, unless they really get enough food sifted out of the water columm. But they certainly are not any problem.]

[I'd leave it in your tank and enjoy it while you can. Keith has a bunch of clams that look like the rockwork, and his tank's been running for about a year now.]
