For those who make their own water...

Someone may have already posted this but just in case...
The Dr. Pepper Bottling plant over by Texas Stadium sells their used 15, 30 and 55 gallon drums for CHEAP. They were all closed top from what I saw out of the 100 or so they had.

Address is 2304 Century Center Blvd. Irving, Texas

55= 5$
30= 3$
15= 2$ Has a nifty handle

Just picked a few up today. Contained food grade materials and cannot be reused. Will most likely have to blast them out with a power washer but excellent for water storage.

I did call them initially but that was just to see if they sold to the public and get prices and directions.
You can just cruise right up to the shipping gate, tell them what youare there for and they direct you to the spot where they keep the empties.

Oh I should have put it in the original post. Take a check or money order with you. They will not accept cash. I found that out the hard way.
However, The Texaco off of 183 and Carl Rd has free money orders on Monday and Tuesdays.... Probably more info than anyone wanted.

Thanks Salty,

If I had more room in the truck I would have bought one for curing rock and one for a trash can in the garage.... Cut the lid off andyou have a virtually indestructable trash can for 5 bucks.... Beat that rubbermaid! :lol:

Don't think I'll be able to get up there to buy any containers, but I'll do my part by drinking more Dr. Pepper! :)

:lol:

If one of you would be so kind, can you let me know specific dimensions of the 15g and 30g barrels when you go?

For those who are getting these what is the best way to get that coke smell out? I coke some 5 gallon jugs and I bleached them and they still smell like coke. I saw something about vinegar and baking soda? Do you put those together? And if so what concentration?

If someone doesn't beat me to the punch I will measure the 30 and 15 at lunch time and maybe get some pics. :wink:

Go right ahead Chris. I'd like to see the dims before I head over today. Are they made of HDPE by any chance?

Chris

Just got back from DP with 2-55's, 2-30's and 5-15's for $28 :shock:

There was an older couple there with a flatbed trailer loading it up! I think it was the people that sell them on ebay.

I was only planning on getting 2 of each size until I saw the 15 gal. :lol: They look very promising :wink:

I would think they go through the syrup so fast that they won't run out.

My 55's are white, graduated Sunny Delights, the 30's are white, graduated Big Red, and the 15's are blue, graduated (I think) Dr. Pepper.

Thanks for the great find!

The measurements are as follows. I have pics but I am having issues with the BROWSE to file button. It maybe firewall related here at the office.

Send me an e-mail and I'll reply with pics. ChrisTate@americreditcom
15g= 14"x26"
30g= 19.5"x30"

Now... on to the next task Finding some SouthDown playsand. :?

Many thanks for the tip, Chris.

I picked up a few myself. Today is not a good day to do this, very very hot and I did not wear sunblock. There was a couple there (maybe the same ones) loading up their trailer. There are still many left. My car now smells like Big Red.
