food cubes

Hi Gals' and Guy's,
Like alot of us I make my own food by grinding up fish, clam, and other stuff and then freezeing it until needed. The problem is that when I do need it , it was in a big lump , and could never get the same amount out twice. So I made food cubes out of it > HOW . I took a piece of egg crate like we use for covers and shelfs that have a nice square patern to it. Cut a piece of plexi glass the same size for a bottom. Put them together with rubber bands. I let the food mix thaw out then lightly press it into the egg crate. Then back into the freezer. After a couple of hours it was frozen, I took the rubber bands off removed the plexi glass and pushed the food cubes out of the egg crate and into a container to be stored in the freezer. Now I can just open the container when I need food and get one or two cubes. Thaw them in a little water and feed. works great....Happy New Year...George Orndorff
 
I also make my own frozen food. I used a few of those small party ice cube trays to freeze the food into small cubes. It works pretty well also.

To keep them from freezing to gether, when I first take them out of the mold I put them on a cookie sheet , but them back in the freezer for a couple of hours , then put them in a plastic container. Being hard froozen now they do not stick together. I do shake the container before I get some out . But so far so good and I'm able to feed the same amount all the time....Happy New Year...George
