Fluval sea salt

For those who have used it what's your opinion? I just bought a bucket of it.

I used it when switching over tanks since I had a few bags laying around. It seemed ok but never got to use it long term to see the real results. Following to see what others have to say as it mixed pretty good compared to reef crystals.

I agree it mixes well I tried their sample bag that they have out for free at next wave

I tested the 10 gallon bags from nextwave and it matched the bag stated levels (for Salinity, ph, alk, ca and mg). I use red sea pro, but may try out fluval once I run out.

I liked the stuff I got from nextwave. I also got a certificate for a from 50 gallon size if I find a LFS that stocks it.

It's also on clearance at Dr Foster & Smith right now. I just ordered 165g size for $39.99. I added some phosban to the order to have enough for free shipping and then used a nextwave $20 gift certificate. Super cheap.

ouch, I would ask them for a price adjustment if it was recent. Here's the product page with clearance prices:

My only neg is that they mix their salt at 1.023 so you don't get full amount per bucket or per bag. I don't know anyone with a reef tank that mixes their salt at 1.023. It was a free bag so no money out of my pocket

I ended up with 5 bags between Macna and Nextwave. Mixes very well, but yes, more to 1.023. Cal and ALK were right on and PH was more stable than the Red Sea Pro I use. I just bought 2 buckets and will try Fluval and see long term. Love the RSP but at the 1/4 mark on the bucket the ALK is always off. Tried rolling the bucket before each WC but still low ALK. Matt said he had the same experience. How many out there remember the old days - starting the water on Thursday for a Saturday change? Salt has improved!!!

It only mixes to 1.023 if you used the bag in 10 gallons of water. They included mixing instructions to 1.025 as well, that's what I mixed and tested for comparison to red sea pro.
