Alright guys, I will have a 24g nano up and running soon and I will have some soft and some SPS corals in it, but I'd really like to get a nice and fun fish! I know I can't put them in it, but I'm in love with tangs just to give you guys an idea of my taste. Any ideas for a 24g tank??

If you plan on going with an angel I would do the cherub pygmy they only get to about 3" where as most of the other dwarf angels get to about 5" and the cherub is less likely to nip at the corals. I also agree with Matt about the blenny they have some of the most personality. As for the yellow clown gobies I've never tried one because they are known for irritating sps.

I'm going to look into that angel. Yeah, I think the angels are what i'm looking at since i can't get a tang.

Lemonpeels don't have a reputation for being the hardiest of the bunch.

I'd second the cherub it's a smaller fish and less likely to nip at corals. Most "dwarf" angels do get around 5".

I think a small group of cardinals or firefish(Purple are my fav) would be a nice addition to the aquarium. A solitary sunburst(fathead) Anthias would also likely be a nice addition.

A blenny would be a nice fish they do get somewhat territorial. A watchman goby/pistol shrimp combination is always a crowd pleaser in smaller aquariums as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions on fish or compability.

I've got an African Flameback angel in my 30gal and he has been a model citizen. I know the tang police will slaughter me but you could put a tang in that tank. You would just have to go very small and you would have to be willing to give him up when he gets too big for the tank. That is what I've done. After about a year they are too big and I take them to the lfs for store credit. Neptune's Cove had some sailfin tangs the other day that were the size of a quarter.

I'm personally not a huge fan of tangs in smaller tanks. I believe even small tangs have the psyche of a larger fish and stress out easier in smaller aquariums.

I've seen it done in many aquariums and the fish live but they are usually physically stunted and do not grow to the size that they would of otherwise grown in a larger aquarium.

Flamebacks are very nice fish both the Brazilian and the African another good option as far as Centropyge type angels.

Flasher Wrasses are nice. My father has a Carpenters in his redsea max and it's his favorite fish. Lot's of personality and color and don't get the attitudes that 6 lines typically have.

I like my 6 line too he just doesn't like new tank mates. Most of them don't. Great fish but not on the top of the list for tanks smaller than 40 gallons.
