Fish being agressive? - Does it last...

[I traded for a healthy Flame Angel today and my clowns are being pretty aggresive. The clowns are searching the tank constantly looking for him and chasing after him as soon as he is in sight. Should I be worried about the flame? Is this something fish go through when you add a new one to the tank?

Stats:
75g, 1 blue hippo, 1 yellow tang, 1 blenny, 2 clowns, jawfish, diamond goby, and a mandrin.]

[It looks like A. ocellaris to me. I'd give it a few days. The Flame Angel will learn to stand up for itself, I would guess.]

[Billy, I would give it a few days. If the aggression keeps up you may put something in the tank to to disrupt the territory.

For example, my Kole Tang a while back was kicking the crap out of a new Regal. Using my two green hand nets I chased the Kole around a bit to get him scared of the nets. Then I split the tank with them. The Kole immediately became focused on the nets and not the new addition. The new Regal hid on the other side of the Nets and could recoup for a bit.

This worked for about a day or two. But it really cut back on the aggression. I think once the bullying fish realized the new guy wasn't leaving the area they give up.

Keep an eye on injuries too. If its mainly posturing hopefully nothing will come of it.]

[False Perc/ Ocellaris are the same. Clowns all have teeth so they will attack and eat other fish. However, the False Perc is not very aggressive (usually). If one is it will be the female.

I never recommend harassing one fish over the other though. Simply placing nets to seperate is not a good/ bad idea. Some fish are very affraid of those nets it could stress other fish that you didn't even intend to sway.

I love Flame angels, but, they are not hardy in my opinion. I would leave the lights off for a few days to they get comfortable.]

[No, george, thank you!

I knew you know that... I just assumed that Bill might not!

p.s. how did you guys know by that pic it wasn't a true perc? I wouldn't have been able to tell!]

[Matt, the books say it's the extra fin? I've never heard that or seen that are you sure???]

[Well, It must a been a rough day. When I got home from work I noticed the Flame had jumped into the overflow. I'm not sure what to do.... :sosad: I have tried to get him out and have been unsuccessfull.

I'm starting to hate fish with a passion. Lately they have been nothing but problems....]

[I call that getting Jumped in. allmost all aggressive fish do that for a day or two. once the flame fights back the other fish will respect him. sounds like los angeles

do you have anymore pics of your tank, you need to post some]

[Blide, when I got the flame my clown would "bully" him around a bit..in a matter of two or 2 days he was the one doing the "bullying" . I hope he does ok for you as he has soooo much character !!! and a great personality]
