OK, I finally have waited 10 long weeks of no fish in my tank to get rid of the ich. Now I am ready to set up my QT tank. I have a couple of questions.
1) I am going to have a slightly lower SG of 1.021 in my QT tank of water that I'm mixing today. I'm then going to fill the tank tomorrow and get my first fish Sunday. I have had a sponge in my main tank for 2 weeks to get some bacteria in it to seed my new tank. This should work, right?
2) I should be able to do water changes every 2 weeks like my main tank and top off every couple of days (as I will be traveling for work and my wife will feed the fish but won't top the tank off) correct?
3) Do I need any snails or crabs in the QT tank to help with bioload issues?
Thanks everyone for your help with this. Keeping my fingers crossed that I do the right thing this time. I'm going to start with a Maroon clown and a sand sifting gobie.
