feeding turbos kelp

I feed my turbo a piece of kelp stuck between the mag cleaner about once every 10 days. Does anyone else use kelp instead of nori? Nori falls apart so quickly.

ummmm....as a question, why are you feeding your turbo? Mostly, they graze on algae, usually on the glass or rocks. Their main purpose is to keep the tank clean.

If you are just starting your tank, and have a perfectly clean tank, a little bit of flake food also does the trick. Formula Two is for algae eaters.

My tank is about 4 months old. The turbo is at least the size of a golf ball and I really worry about these guys starving in the long run which is what I've read. I think the turbos really need some kind of supplimentation in a newer tank, esp. the big guys. Kelp is very thick and he seems to eat the top layer leaving a bottom layer (if that makes any sense).

Ah! That makes more sense, then. Large snail, new tank, and not much to eat.

If the flakes can sit on the bottom, or on rock, that would work, too, since the snail can't chase it around. I know my lfs has sheets of seaweed that they make themselves, it's a mixture of things. But this is their own brand....you might check with your lfs, see what they have. Plain ol dried seaweed from the asian market doesn't seem to sit well with my tankmates, but a snail might like it.
