Feeding fish while away on vacation

Hi Everyone,
What would you recommend feeding a maroon clown fish while away on vacation for a week? Do you think if I feed him just before I leave he will be ok? He is pretty small? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Daphne

Ok, no mobbing me, but he will probably be ok for one week. Might be really hungry when you get back if you feed it every day, but will be fine. I personally have a automatic flake food feeder for my tank that drops flake food every morning. This might be a good option if you are nervous about going foodless for a week assuming your clown will eat flake food. If you don't know, then you could do more harm than good if he decides he doesn't like flake food.

WOW.
Thanks for the quick response. Actually, it is for my brother in law's tank. I personally wouldn't go a week due to my zoo's! The lfs sold him so type of "crap" in a triangle style format. Said it would disolve and feed his fish.... when I read the back it stated that it would feed approx 10-15 fish per 10 gallons....I think it is for freshwater not salt. I told him not to use it and I hope that I was right. I was afraid that it might actually do damage to his tank. I will tell him about the flake food... I'll have him try to feed him flake food first.
Thanks,
Daphne

Daphne, IMHO do NOT let him use the little pyramid thingy... They're garbage for even freshwater (IMHO) but for salt, I believe they even have a PH buffer in it which would NOT be good for saltwater.....

I know this isn't the best way to do it, but during my "ignoring the tank" phase of the last few years, I'd go 2 or so weeks between feedings of the tank, and the clowns made it through that just fine...

And, as always, no NOT recommending you ignore your tank and put your critters through multiple weeks at a time of starvation, but they generally can take it...

It helps if your tank makes some of it's own food too... ('pods, etc) for the fish to nibble on...
