Feeding A Zebra Moray

I have a new zebra named Beetlejuice, and I'm having trouble trying to feed him. I have been feeding him a mix of frozen krill and small chunks of fresh shrimp from Albertsons twice a week from metal tongs.

Problem is, he is so slow, and my picaso trigger and purcupine puffer try to eat anything I give to him. I tried using a big net to keep the other fish away, and then fed him. Later I saw that the trigger had gone over and stole his shrimp right out of his mouth.

Does anybody have any ideas on a better way to feed this guy. The net thing seems to be working pretty good, just wondering how others deal with this.

Thanks,
Justin

get him used to feeder tongs ( 2 foot grabbing thingy) and feed him whole fish/ prawns off the tongs.. that way he knows when feeding time is, and the other fish cant get the "bits of food."

hope thats of some help.

When I had mine I would throw a couple pieces of krill on one side of the tank and then use a stick with krill on it to feed the eel.

I used this method a long time ago when I worked in a pet store and was in charge of feeding the fish. The store had a large aggressive tank with triggers, groupers, and eels.

To feed the eels I would use a wooden shiskabob skewer that I would slide through the end of a gravel vacuum. I then would pull the food up into the tube. The triggers would attack the outside of the tube but never figured out that they could get the food from the bottom. When I got close to the eel I would push the food out of the tube to make it easy for them to get the food. After a while they learned the routine and would sometime swim up into the tube to get the food.

You could probably make one quickly with a 16oz or smaller plastic water bottle.
