Guys,
I have a 55 gallon DAS aqauarium that has a 36 inch current usa outer orbit light. It sits on top of tank perfectly acting like a glass cover. While the metal halide and 2x 96 watt are running for a few hours it can raise the tank temp as much as 8-10 degrees over the house temperature. Needless to say my chiller is really starting to kick in. Is there any setup I can do with computer or desktop fans to keep the water cooler? The light fixture has one fan in it blowing air up out of one top vent, but the light fixture has two top vents. Another idea I have had is the fixture also has two side vents on each side[ total 4]. I'm thinking about with computer fans to blow in air from the outside into the light fixture, and hope the heat will subsequently rise out of the top vents.
Or should I mount some computer fans on my open top sump under the tank and blow water across that? Or do both?
What do you all think?
Thanks!
